Once we have established a diagnosis for your condition we have a number of treatment options:
Explanation and advice
In some milder situations this is all that is required. Once you understand your condition you may be able to manage it yourself by following some simple advice.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, education and advice, manual therapy such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue techniques such as massage, electrotherapy and acupuncture.
Splints
These are custom made acrylic devices that fit into the mouth. We use a number of different designs to help us treat the different diagnoses.
Surgery
In more severe cases surgery may be required. There are a number of different techniques, which often don’t need to be too invasive.
Psychosocial techniques
Longstanding, chronic pain is different from more acute conditions. As well as the techniques described above we use other therapies to provide coping strategies and reduce the affect of the pain on your daily life.
Botox and Medications
Botox can be a very useful way of reducing muscle activity and alleviating pain. There are also other medications that can be prescribed to help your journey back to living without pain.
